Barryd999
She is right!! Your Tory party, the one you desire so much and the one I used to vote for is just becoming the EDLKIPPER Party, Time they split to be honest. Its an MP's duty to do what they feel is best for the country not always what the majority of their constituents say or what their vested interests or paymasters tell them. To be fair the Labour Party is just as bad at the other extreme, they need to split as well.

To be fair the Labour Party is just as bad at the other extreme, they need to split as well. Its an MPs duty to fulfil their manifesto promises and serve the constituency and its residents wishes which in her case were to leave the EU ... The reason she is in Parliament is only because of those who voted for her , she would do well to remember that ... As for your Labour Party bit about them splitting I thought you'd said they were guna be in Government before Brexit ??? ... That wont be much good Barry with less than 60 days to go

Barryd999
Because we elect MP's based on policies, manifestos and our political leaning at the time. They are not there to enact the wishes of Ethel or Bob from Sunderland or wherever. They can listen to what you have to say but essentially its their job with one hopes some understanding of whats best for the country to do whats best for the country. Yes both parties stood on a manifesto that included proceeding with Brexit which we have done. It turns out however that its as big a disaster as many thought it would be so its therefore only right that some, preferably most change tack. You dont proceed with something just because it seemed like a good idea two and a half years ago and because a small majority of the public in a none binding vote said we should. People like Anna Soubry should be praised for standing up and exposing the emporers clothes for what they are especially if a majority of their constituents disagree. That shows real statesmanship IMO.
