Violet1956
Getting a little tired of “the haters” epithet. Would like to know who thought of it and why it appears to have been trotted out so frequently by some on here. I was taught that “hate” was a very strong word to be used very sparingly. When used by a competent adult, that is what it should mean. However, I have known small children, when denied, for example, an ice cream, burst into tears and say "I hate you!". So, what we have to distinguish is whether those who endlessly call others with whom they disagree "haters", are the former, or the latter. :-D As Burns so eloquently put it: O wad some Pow'r the giftie gie us To see oursels as ithers see us! Just a way of shouting down those they disagree with when they don't have the capacity for reasoned argument. In another time they would have been Nazis, because they would have been used by Hitler and Goering in the same way they have been used by Johnson & Cummings :-S Johnson & Cummings have used the same tricks to make them hate Immigrants/Jews/The EU/Whatever. Create an enemy, (They need an enemy) and use it to divide and rule. They are the haters, so they want to get the word in first.
