I find the media hype trying to draw similarities between the Covid situation now and the personal hardships and tragedies of WW2 quite offensive.

There is no comparison between then and now, the hardships and tragedy that our parent's generation endured cannot be compared to the security we all enjoy now whilst we 'endure' some minor inconvenience in order to stay alive and out of hospital and it is an insult to that generation's sacrifices to try and draw comparisons simply to attempt to create news stories and headlines.

To commemorate the sacrifices and remind ourselves of the human cost of that era is essential - lest we forget.

In no way am I detracting from the phenomenal dedication and sacrifice being made by our NHS and other people, but it is not in the same league as a war when it comes to personal loss and tragedy, and as for the rest of us any comparison between then and now is worthless.

Not that mankind in general seems to learn anything from history?
