Gregors
Hi All. I am travelling down to the Spanish boarder this coming weekend in the MH and wondered if anyone can recommend a good place to stop in france about half way down ? I thought around Clermont-Ferrand or similar ? Many thanks Chris
StuartO
Not stopped near Clermont Ferrand myself but as a general rule the Aires close to transit routes can get very busy or even crammed full, so taking pot luck and arriving late hoping for a good night's sleep might be chancy. Better to pick an Aire away from the transit route and in a more isolated position if you want to just drop in for a sleep stop en route; much less chance of it being full, especially at this time of year. Gregors
Thanks for that. I was actually going to pull away from the main transit route and find a more remote stop over Thanks Chris

Derek Uzzell
Chris There is an aire at Clermont-Ferrand itself http://www.campingcar-infos.com/Francais/cci.php?numero=7258 though this one a bit further south may be preferable http://www.campingcar-infos.com/Francais/cci.php?numero=7375 If you 'zoom out' the map you’ll see that there are quite a few possibilities within reasonable striking distance of the autoroute (if that’s what you will be travelling on) and nearish to Clermont-Ferrand, and the user-comments relating to the aires may help you decide. (You might get more feedback based on first-hand experience if your inquiry were on the “Motothome Matters” forum. Would you like me to move this thread there?)
