Anti-squirrel bird feeder.

Plagued with squirrels that raid the various bird feeders in garden, found an answer that is worth trying.

Get 2 of the plastic lemonade bottles, and long piece of thin wire.

Cut bottom off plastic bottles, thread wire down between them, to tie the feeder at bottom of one end and other, top end of wire can be strung from the supports you use, such as a pegola or tree branch.

Result is one baffled squirrel, who is unable to grip the plastic bottles, as they rotate around each other when he tries to grip them.

Bet is on. Been using this system for over 2 yrs.

Seen squirrels sitting on pergola, trying to work out a means to raid the feed. When they do try, it is fun watching them slide down the thin wire, realise they cannot gat past slippery plastic bottles, which rotate, then try to climb up the wire again.

They usually burn their fingers before getting to top of wire, then sit on pergola, blowing on the burned fingers, and flicking their tails in vigorous defiance, before trying somewhere else. :->

We Have used fishing line to suspend the feeder. One end we tie to a tree and the other to the fence, making sure that it does not hang to close to any branches as those clever little buggers will leap into the air. We also use an old washing line prop to support the fishing line, do not support the feeder. We have had many amusing moments watching the squirrels. Even seen one try to jump from the ground up to get hold of the feeder, unsuccessfully.

You only live once-so let the good times roll
