Hi

We have been looking at one of the above motorhomes online and as we have to use it everyday as our only vehicle, we were wondering about the length of the overhang and how much of a problem it would present in everyday travel and parking, any advice would be gratefully accepted. Many thanks.

Looking at the photos on line the overhang doesn't look all that bad. Something to bear in mind and exploit (eg by parking so it overhangs the grass when you reverse in) and there might be some car park spaces that are just too small for you, but for ordinary driving no problem.

A very nice little MH.

I agree with Stuart - a Lagan 251 should be small enough for everyday use.

There’s a advert for a 2003 version here

http://www.balmoralmotorhomes.co.uk/used-motorhome-mclouis-lagan-motorhome-119

It was built on a short wheelbase (2.85m) chassis and this MMM 2001 review http://tinyurl.com/qaze585 of the longer (length and wheelbase) Lagan 261 may be of interest.

The maximum overall weight is relatively low at 3000kg, but payload should be adequate unless it’s planned to smuggle gold bullion under the bed. The short wheelbase will produce a tight turning-circle but, taking into account the wheelbase’s shortness and longish rear overhang, it might be unwise to carry anything heavy (eg. a mobility scooter) mounted right at the rear. When moving off, care would need to be taken if the motorhome is positioned close to a wall or vehicle, as exploiting the turning-circle will cause the vehicle’s rear to ’swing’ significantly.

(I guess it’s worth adding that there were quite a few motorhomes similar in size/concept to the Lagan 251 being marketed in the early 2000s, so there’s a reasonable amount of choice.)
