bond38
We have a 2015 Marquis Majestic 175 ( Elddis Autoquest 175). Since new the water pump seems very noisy. The dealer has looked at it and has not solved the problem. The pump is noisy and seems to work in pulses and sounds like water hammer. Any thoughts ideas welcomed. Derek Uzzell
I notice that you asked about this in January 2015. http://www.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/Noisy-wElddis-water-pumps/37198/ I’m guessing from your description that your motorhome’s pump is the pressure-sensitive type - quite likely a Whale product. (You should find the type of pump easy to establish as a pressure-sensitive pump will not be inside the motorhome’s water tank.) Pressure-sensitive pumps can be noisy and, if you’ve been used to a leisure-vehicle water system that includes a ‘submersible’ pump that operates differently and is usually significantly quieter, you may find the noise irritating. This document deals with the installation and operation of a Whale “Watermaster” pump http://www.toplicht.de/pdf/en/1435214.PDF and there is brief advice on addressing noisy operation. Received wisdom is that, if a pressure-sensitive water pump is particularly noisy and ‘hammers’ badly, installing an accumulator/damper may help. Whale markets a surge-damper that is described here http://www.camperlands.co.uk/downloads/whale-surgedamper-instructions.pdf How easy it would be to fit this to your motorhome will depend on the design of the existing water system and it certainly won’t silence a pressure-sensitive pump completely. But if your dealer has checked the system for obvious installation flaws and the noise has not reduced, fitting a surge-damper may be the best way forward.
