Stumped
I have a Peugeot Boxer (2008) Autocruise. The battery has been draining and ending up flat. I have taken it to a garage and had a specialised vehicle electrician check it out, and been informed that it was the battery and could not find any leakage. So changed battery and after four weeks the new battery was flat, jumped started no problem, but the 12v control screen is no longer working. I have taken the vehicle to ******** ****** who have informed me that the 12v control unit is burnout and that they cannot get a replacement from Autocruise/Swift as they no longer make the part. Water heating/water pump are controlled by this unit and no longer operational. Can anybody advise?
Alanb
I deduce from the fact that you mention jump starting, that you are refering to the starter battery. If the starter battery is original, it was probably due for replacement. An alarm system can discharge the battery completely in perhaps as little as 3 weeks. When jump starting a motorhome, it is a wise precaution to remove the habitation battery fuse, before connecting jump leads. (It is possible in some systems for the split charge relay to become operated when jump leads are connected. Subsequent operation of the starter motor will then cause excessive current to be drawn from the habitation battery. This current would probably blow the habitation battery fuse, leading to no 12V habitation supplies.) As a first step do check the habitation battery main fuse, This fuse will be rated at up to 50A, and should be located as close as practicable to the habitation battery +ve terminal. Robinhood
...contemporaneous wiring diagrams show both a 50A and 5A fuse, implicitly on or close to the leisure battery +ve terminal. As above, before panicking it would be sensible to check these.
colin
As above, x250's often flatten the battery after a few weeks, are you sure the tech didn't say "no excessive discharge" as there is always a discharge on these vehicles.
Billggski
Hi "stumped". As it's your first post I guess you're a newish motorhomer? Welcome. As said, the starter battery may have been due for renewal, and the leisure battery, which powers the screen, may be dead as well. So the screen may just have no power, but jump starting may have tripped a fuse, or, in worst case scenario, may have killed it. 1) check the fuses and trip switches on your controller and fusebox. 2) try a new leisure battery (your new starter battery will do) 3) if still dead, try a breakers like O'Leary's for a replacement. https://www.olearymotorhomes.co.uk/ 4) 2008 panels may still be in stock somewhere.
