American RV UK & Europe Sites

Does anyone know of a web site or listing for caravan sites suitable in UK & Europe,(particular France & Spain) which could be accessed by an ARV? Caravan Club site pitches e.g tend to be quite large. In the past I have parked my 12.73 mtr car/caravan outfit on one of their pitches ready for a very early morning start, this was ok because the pitch opposite was empty. Thanks

I would suggest you try the American RV Clubs. I think their addresses are in MMM. My sister has an RV and I have seen camp site suggestions in their magazines. Hope this is some help. When taking an early morning sailing they have used the CC site on Folkestone Racecourse - huge carpark! Annie

Annie, Thanks for your reply,I'm not sure which ARV clubs you are talking about? Since wishing to buy a ARV I have been buying MMM. I have tried searching for such clubs on Google but only the American ones which is great if you wish to find sites for RV's in America. Funnily enough the site I refered to in my original posting was the CC site Black Horse Farm just outside Folkestone.

Hullo Mick, I think the club my sister gets some of her info from is the American RV Club address on page 147 of October issue of MMM. There is also an American Auto Club, I note, which may be able to help you. Good hunting! Annie

Annie, Thanks, just looked at page, the American RV club does not appera to have either a web site or e-mail address, the American Auto Club does so I will have a look to see if it covers RV or just cars, but thank you again.

Mick The best (by a long way) "club" to join is the ARVE (American RV Enthusiasts). It is run by Paul Rees on 08700 115111 or arvm2000@aol.com .Website www.arvm.uk.com. It publishes a professional quality magazine once a month and is entirely dedicated to the UK owner/user of US RV's. They have a database of suitable sites for RV's both in the UK and Europe. I would strongly suggest that membership is a must for any owner or would-be owner of an RV. Incidentally, there are two American Auto Clubs in the UK (a disagreement lead to the split). The AAC International is fronted by Harry Tune on prez@aacint.com. The website is www.aacint.com These clubs, although will welcome any US vehicle, mainly represent US car owners. I doubt if they have any specialism for RV's. If you want any (personal) advice on RV's (not recommendations; I am not qualified for that) you can always contact me at nealbarb1@supanet.com Regards Neal

Neal, Thanks for your reply,on Monday I received a single copy of ARVM to what it contained ect,I was so impressed I took out a 12 month subscription online. Prior to this I had already visited the arvm web site but was disapointed that it didn't have a forum or obvious means for quick exchange of information, perhaps my 'new' membership will provide something? We have yet to purchase our ARV but once done so it would be nice to know of suitable locations where we will be able to park it hence the need to view any data base of such information. I note you mention that the arvm site contains such a data base but this is somewhat limited with only France and 9 sites listed there must be more? Once I have established who the person is to write to at ARVM I will do so in the hope of getting a lot more locations placed on their data base.
