Milly161
Hi I'm looking to install a solar panel to my A A , any idea where the best place is to run the cables, as the panels are very well put together and I don't fancy damaging any of them Cheers
tonyishuk
I see that no one has replied, which is unusual on this forum. My initial reaction would be ask the dealer or Autocruise direct. Some mhomes have part of the circuitry all ready installed as solar panels are a common after fit, as are second batteries. Failing that, if you you give the forum your approx location, someone maybe able to recommend a suitable supplier / fitter for you discuss installation. Derek Uzzell
Milly has not said how old her motorhome is, but I think the Augusta model was made from 2007 to 2011 (there’s a 2007 review here) https://tinyurl.com/unf6nba Advising on how best to install a solar panel on an Augusta and to run the cabling would require an intimate knowledge of the model and its electrical equipment, and I’m doubtful that any current forum-member will have this. The Augusta is Milly’s first motorhome and the installation of a solar panel on a motorhome’s roof has plenty of potential pitfalls. It would be wise, then, to have the work carried out professionally or (as Tony has said) at least discuss the task with a specialist fitter before DIYing is attempted. Milly161
Hi thanks for the replies, yes there are cables ready for the installation of a solar panel, up to 100w. (allegedly, I couldn't find them) I have installed a 160w one , with the help of my dad ( we had fitted 2 panels on the last 2 caravans he has bought) so wasn't too bad, the hardest bit was hiding the cables behind the walls and cupboards, I am thinking of installing a second battery now though :-D
