Guest Keith M
Today we decided to have a 'musicless' drive. However, the radio in our Boxer kept turning itself on by itself! This happened four times before eventually deciding to stay quiet for the rest of the journey. Has anyone else suffered from this kind of problem and what was the cause? Hopefully it will not turn itself on tonight and drain the battery! Any advice would be gratefully received. Regards Keith & Rachael.
Guest Neal
Keith Actually, I haven't got a clue but, and this is the but, I had a home hi-fi unit years ago that would turn itself on in the middle of the night! It did it quite regularly and, although it was quite disconcerting at first, I soon learned that it had a timer function which had been inadvertantly set and it was only doing what it was told. One night, in the early hours, I twigged it and turned the timer function off - no more problems! Hope this helps. Regards Neal
Guest Andy Saville
Hi Keith, have got the same problem with a Blaupunt radio fitted in van, this started after having extra rear speakers fitted by a local dealer. contacted blaupunt technical dept and was advised to disconnect unit electrically for at least and hour or more, reason being it needs a software reset. unfortunately haven't had chance to do it myself yet to confirm whether this works or not. to be honest dont think much to radio fitted but it came with the van. Guest Mike C
Hello Keith, Had a similar problem with the radio in my Ducato after the 20 minute cut off had been modified by Fiat/Swift. The radio would turn itself on 20 minutes after the ignition was switched off. The Car Radio Service chap said that the wiring had been done incorrectly and mentioned other problems identical to yours. Get a competent car radio specialist to check out the wiring if the problem is not a timer/software problem as posted by Neal and Andy. Regards, Mike C.
