jumpstart
How’s that going to affect the M&CC site?
Derek Uzzell
According to this article https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/10/29/bristol-will-ban-diesel-vehicles-city-new-proposal/ the Bristol ‘ban’ is a proposal "which could be implemented by March 2021”. By then the C&MC Baltic Wharf campsite might not exist.
BS20
No, I live in Bristol and we have been told only certain areas near the Hospital and a few built up areas will ban/restrict diesel at certain times. Baltic Warf is outside that area so not included. The road outside the BRI Hospital is one of the most polluted roads in Bristol so we support a ban in that area. Relax, for now free running roads will still be open.
pepe63xnotuse
The maps shown on the " Bristol live" ( Bristolpost.co.uk) website appear to show that the site would fall within one of their proposed boundaries... ? (Would post a link but not sure how to using OH's tablet)
Derek Uzzell
The link pepe63 refers to is here https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/city-council-congestion-zone-diesel-3483921 The pink area of the map attached below indicates the proposed clean-air zone and it’s evident that the Baltic Wharf campsite would be within this. colin
Has been on TV this morning, apparently there will be two areas, a large area where some vehicles can pay to enter, and a smaller area which will ban all polluting vehicles for most of day. Derek Uzzell
The boundaries of the proposed two Bristol ‘clean air’ areas are shown on the map on this link https://www.cleanairforbristol.org/ There is a larger area where non-compliant diesel-fuelled commercial vehicles will be charged to enter and - within that larger area - a smaller area where private diesel-fuelled vehicles will be banned from entering. The latter area includes the Baltic Wharf campsite.

The restrictions where around euro6 deisel AND euro4 petrol vehicles, I believe these where to be allowed to go in the smaller area, but only in middle of night, so in effect will shut down Baltic Wharf campsite. Derek Uzzell
There’s more detail here https://www.itv.com/news/westcountry/2019-10-29/bristol-s-clean-air-plans-include-diesel-vehicle-ban-and-charging-zones/ (It’s still just a proposal ;-) )

Derek Uzzell
The following is a comment from forum-member jumpstart Diesel ban approved for Bristol. Going to make things difficult.
Rayjsj
The Baltic Wharf CMC site is very popular, and is nearly always full, although for the last few years it has had the threat of closeure hanging over it. CMC do not own the freehold, and the council have talked about a new School, but suspect the site will be sold for luxury flat developement. This diesel ban will probably finish the Site , which is a shame. As it was a good genuine 'City break' site, not too many of these left now....And getting less if these bans spread. Sign of problems to come?
