Brittany Ferries cash refund?

Has anyone managed to get a cash refund for their cancelled Brittany Ferries trips yet?

We have had two trips cancelled now and really want cash back rather than vouchers - mainly because their prices are becoming prohibitive for our regular trips to our French house, and their new booking system is less flexible.

We have written asking for money to replace the automatic vouchers, but no response so far.

Cheers,

Nick

On TV yesterday during the daily Corona virus update Government Ministers stated that companies who owe customers a refund must repay the customer either by cash or a voucher which ever they choose.

But does English Law apply to a French Company

The best UK on-line forum for information about Brittany Ferries (BF) is this one

Regarding amendment/cancellation of BF bookings, there is an ongoing thread that began on 25 April

https://bfenthusiasts.com/bfe/topic/13261-amendment-and-cancellation-policies/

This thread includes criticisms of the functionality of BF’s website and suggests (amongst other things) that contacting BF via Twitter is more effective and productive.

Passenger rights when travelling on ferries are summarised here

and are covered by an EU Regulation.

HOORAY!!

I have just received an e mail from the C&MC to advise that BF have agreed to provide a cash refund rather than a travel voucher! The Club advise that they are very busy so please allow 28 days to receive the money. I dont mind waiting a bit longer , just delighted that persistence has paid off!

Good luck to everyone else in the same situation

Bob

As in theory I possibly could still go to France on the 28th August but prefer not to as still be too many uncertainties. i booked through the CMHC and the balance was due about now. Contacted the CMHC and checked whether I needed to still pay the balance if I wanted to postpone my trip. I am quite happy to accept voucher for the value of the deposit (£65) and that has been agreed by CMHC, still waiting to hear from BF (3 weeks) but was warned it would take some time as not deemed urgent.

Brittany Ferries (BF) originally cancelled their passenger-carrying services until 15 June 2020, but that period has been extended to 28 June 2020.

My understanding is that, when BF’s passenger services do resume, initially no foot or bicycle travellers will be carried and all travellers must book a cabin. As BF ships have around 200 cabins, that would mean a maximum of 400-500 passengers per crossing and a potentially high demand for cabin accommodation. This was why I decided to book now as I can always amend my early-September booking nearer to the sailing date if that seems the right thing to do.
