We are hoping to have aday trip to Calais whilst in Kent shortly. I seem to recall last time we went that theHypermarket/Shopping facilities at Eurocity (not sure if correct name?) were not acceisbbile to Motorhomes due to height barriers......what a strange idea! Does anyone know if that is still thecase, and also what the alternative Hypermarkets Calis/Boulogne area which are acceissible and it is safe to park whilst shopping.

Hi Keith, On the way to Eurocity there is a big Auchen Hypermarket, with fuel, go past the fort on your right and its not far then on the right, do not head for Eurocity. Park where there are a lot of people about not way over where its quiet. David

It is possible to park at Cite Europe - the large centre in Calais. M/H's seem to park in the coach area - and with no other facility, so they should! However the Auchan shop may be worth a look at at Carrefoures prices seem to be a little inflated. Surprise, surprise

you can use the coach park - next to the police control point. Go in on the left hand side, (first entrance coming from town?).There's always a few motorhomes & vans there. Agree that Auchan is reasonable, also separate Sainsbury's wine warehouse next door. It's not a s full as Tesco's in Cite europe with cheap fizzy beer (full of chemicals & gives you a headache after only one)& crap piat d'or type "wine", and you have to be selective with what you buy there - They have some non- french wines and some of the items are shipped over from UK, so you can compare prices directly with what is sold in UK. For a range of French wines go to French supermakets.

Seems a pity to go to Calais and not have a bit of a wander.Use the Auchan at Boulogne its about a mile up the St.Omer Road N 42(Off at Conteville?),you will see it on the other side of the road. Then with Fromage,Pate, and Pain on board you can picnic at either of the Caps along the Coast Road. The inland road back to Calais via Guines is very pleasant as well. Have a look at www.day-tripper.net and you can find best bargains before you go. We wish you a sunny day and calm crossing.
