Ian Decide whereabouts in the world you are likely to be using it and ensure that you get written confirmation of it's ability to lock on to the satelite and deliver the range of channels you are expecting to see. When it comes to satelite dishes, the further south you go (in Europe), size IS important.

I think the automatic dishes are a total waste of time and money! Two reasons: 1 Cost and drilling holes in your van: and as Neal rightly says limited size and functionality. 2 You want to park in shade when it is hot, which means trees or buildings to the south, which means obscured sky, which means no picture. We use a Multimo which is superb to the med coast ... either on the ground, sat on the roof or on its tripod and carry 2x10m cables which means we can put it 20 metres from the van away from trees and buildings ... just so the dearly beloved can get her daily fix of the Archers! If you're worried about being able to lock on to the signal don't there's tons of excellent advice and web sites (Roadpro is very simple to follow). If going into deepest Spain buy a dish locally for a few euros! But beware! The UK footprint will not reach, the BBC begins to fail in the south of France, other programmes soon after ... you'll need to discover how to switch to the southern footprint! So don't bother! Get a Multimo or similar ... and you've still cash for a couple of months away,a generator and aircon or a shed load of booze! The choice is yours!
