Ginger Jim
Hi all, this is our first time to winter in Spain. Leaving home at the end of January.my question is this, is it necessary to pre book campsites. I would appreciate any advice you all can give. Many thanks

Charles
Depends where you're going, the Benidorm sites get busier but I can't see them getting full, I'd drop them an email anyway.
PJay
Calpe Mar gets booked a year ahead Any where in the sunny part of Spain , seems to get full up now, as even the French are going to Spain , as so much cheaper than in France
david lloyd
But it's not impossible to get a pitch on a turn up and see basis. There have been some years where we have decided not to pre-book and have still managed to get a pitch. Usually, all the best pitches (i.e. sunniest/biggest) have been taken by those staying long term arriving in Sep/Oct/Nov but we have also been fortunate in having secured some quite nice pitches before. on a couple of occasions when the site has been full they have found us a space (usually on the car park) fir overnight if they know a pitch is being vacated next day - there is often some movement during January and February. If you want to be absolutely certain though then it is wise to pre-book. David
Mickt
At Bonterra Park in september people were settling in until march, infact one person stays therd at least 8 months of the year.

Presumably they get their early to avoid being allocated one of the many pitches under trees. Benicassim is cooler in the winter than further south where the temperatures are a couple of degrees warmer. There are pitches available on the less popular sites further south but that is for a reason. One of my favourite sites is at Torre Del Mar - close to the beach, large supermarket around the corner and within walking distance of the town where buses depart for many popular locations including Malaga. Wirralian
Hi Jim I am at Camping Torre del Mar, the site mentioned inthe previous post. It is quite full but there are vacant pitches but none if required for long stay unless booked. In Jan/Feb all the long stayers will have arrived (and some may even starting to leave) so thrre is more chance then of getting an unbooked pitch. Cap44
We wanted to stay in a campsite in Duquessa between Gib and Marbella for a month in January last year but it was full. At 575e a month with shared toilets no internet ect all living on top of each other like sardines A 2 bed flat with everything including Sky front line above the marina at 625e was a no brainer. Could not get the Ducato in the private garage but the bikes were safe in there. So if the campsites are full get a flat its cheaper,,,,,,,,,,
