Electrolux rm4211 fridge flue help

Hi,

 

My motorhome has an Electrolux 3 way fridge with the flue seperate from the air intake - it is piped out to the side of the van as the fridge backs onto the rear doors.

 

There is an angled t-piece at the top of the flue pipe above the burner which connects to a flexi pipe leading to the outside of the van. The other side of the t-piece is open and soot is visible adjacent to this. Is this normal or should the other side of the t-piece be capped somehow?
