Euroair auxiliary suspension on Bürstner A Class

I have fitted auxiliary airbags on my rear suspension in preparation for an upgrade to my van weight capacity.

Installation of the basic system without the pump is fairly straightforward but I want to improve the fastening for the air tubes to the chassis. At the moment I’m using cable ties to existing fastenings. On the chassis rail there are 8mm holes that could take a Christmas tree type peg with zip tie. https://www.hellermanntyton.co.uk/products/cable-ties-with-fixing-elements/t50sosksft5se/126-00111?query=126-00111

Alternatively there are ledges of thin metal that might take a clip with a zip/cable tie. https://www.hellermanntyton.co.uk/products/cable-ties-with-fixing-elements/t50sosec9sd/156-00019

I haven’t yet found a supplier for the relatively small number of ties that I need. Any links would be helpful

The system that I bought comes with an auxiliary pump operated by a rocker switch that sits between dials showing the air pressure. At the moment, I havent found a place for the pump. In the system installed on this video (similar but not exactly the same) the pump fits under the plastic cover on the passenger door step. Unfortunately, the pump provided doesn’t fit.

What is under the compartment that sits between the seats? I don’t have the van here so I’m thinking out loud. My alternative would be to fit the pump in the garage somewhere if I can avoid taking up useable space.

I’m not sure if anyone else has done this themselves but any clarity would be helpful.

I can’t find on-line any UK-supplier of small numbers of the Hellemanntyton pegs/clips, but GOOGLE-searches using the Hellemanntyton part number for each product suggest that it may be possible to order these things individually from advertisers abroad. There's no point me providing links as I’ve not looked at those advertisers' terms and conditions that might well include a (huge) minimum charge for any delivery to a UK address.

If "the compartment that sits between the seats” is the one shown in the attached photos, you’ll see that it would be impossible to house the pump there.

I’ve read installation instructions and seen videos relating to fitting air-bags to a a Ducato’s rear axle and thought that the method shown would be questionable for my own motorhome or that, if I were fitting that particular air-bag ‘kit’, I’d do it differently to the way suggested.

Siting the pump in the garage makes some sense as it would be close to the air-bags, though presumanly you’d still want the gauges and pump-switch in the cab area and that would involve running air-tubes from the garage to the cab.

I’m guessing that I could install the pump beneath the driver’s seat on my Rapido (though I’d almost certainly put it in the garage if I were installing ‘your’ kit) but I don’t know if under-seat installation would be practicable with your Burstner A-class design.

On my old land rover I used metal "p" shaped fasteners screwed into the floor with self tapping screws. They also make plastic ones, but you may not want to drill holes!

Thanks Bill. I don’t want to drill holes. I was hoping to use what exists. Since I posted, I’ve found clips that will take a cable tie and I’ve ordered some. I’ll get the van next week and look at it. Derek, I’m reluctant to fit the pump in the garage for the reason you suggest that I’d need another long pipe run to go along with a very long cable run for the dashboard mounted switch. It looks like under the drivers seat it is.

I was also under the impression that a Bürstner Viseo Sovereign 700i would have an AL-KO chassis and, consequently, that the ‘leaf spring’ EuroAir system shown on the link in Richard’s original posting would be unsuitable.

But Richard said "I have fitted auxiliary airbags on my rear suspension in preparation for an upgrade to my van weight capacity” so (perhaps) the link just shows an example of an air-bellows system with a pump, not the actual system Richard has fitted to his motorhome.

Dunno - I’m not psychic...
