Ford Duetto questions

Hi everyone, hope I am doing this right, apologies if not as am new to the forum and to be honest to owning a camper. Bought it last year but didn't use it much. Expected to park it for the winter then jump in and use it having refilled the water etc and have everything work! Sadly not so now have some things to sort as I had one of those holidays where everything went wrong :( Hopefully you experienced people will find my questions simple and they will at least give you a chuckle

1. I forgot to check the gas bottle before I went which resulted in my lighting the fridge, it being on all of 2 minutes then going off as the gas bottle was empty. Thought replacing the gas bottle would solve it but now the fridge button is not sparking so can't light it. Is there something magic I have to do?

2. A couple of bulbs have gone and can't find where to get replacements (photo attached). Did but some but they were too long so the front wouldn't screw back on. Happy to replace the lights if that is the answer

3. I have hit the side when pulling out of the gate due to someone else's parking and broken (ie smashed) the cover which I think is for the heater outlet. Any idea where I can buy a new one? (picture attached)

thanks in anticipation

Liz

Hello, That broken part looks like a flue cowl cover for a Truma ultrastore heater and they can be found on ebay but I think you may need the other part as well that the cover clips on to. If you have a caravan parts supply shop near you they should be able to help.

You should also find the parts you need at leisurelines.net who have these covers to purchase online.

Thank you so much, yes it is a Truma heater. I went to the caravan supply shop and they tried to tell me it was the water outlet not the heater! Will have a look this evening

As has ben advised above, what you broke is the ‘cowl' (air inlet/gas-exhaust outlet) for a Truma “Ultrastore” water heater.

The replacement parts you’ll need will depend on how much damage has been done.

If the metal ‘back-plate' has been damaged, this set of parts would be required (example here)

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184403167071

If just the outer plastic bits are damaged, you may not need the back-plate- just a new grille and cover (example here)

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/303463429875

As your Duetto is 2002-vintage, you’ll need to be a mite careful as Truma has a habit of changing its specifications and a new grille MIGHT not fit on an old back-plate.

This manual may help

http://www.swift-owners-club.com/support/oem-handbooks/truma/ultrastore-2002.pdf

A range of ‘caravan’ light-bulbs is shown here

https://www.caravanaccessoryshop.co.uk/category/caravan-bulbs/54?page=all

If you’ve been able to remove the failed bulbs, you should be able to source replacements without having to replace the light units.

Thank you for taking the time to reply and to give me so much information. Visit to Edmundsons Electrical solved the bulb problem today. Found Kenmore last night and they seem to be the place to buy, spent some time looking at grills so am getting somewhere. Will order tomorrow
