Pete-B
My Auto Sleeper Warwick XL has to be almost level before the fridge will work on hook up. Would switching over to gas if it's not quite level enough work on electric solve the problem?
paulmold
Don't know what fridge you have (AS fitted both makes over the years) in your Warwick XL but Thetford are only tolerant to 3° from level, Dometic 5°. Shouldn't make any difference what energy source, they all heat same refrigerant.

It's a Thetford I had a Dometic in the last van and didn't have a problem at all with that, but thanks for the reply
Derek Uzzell
Based on this 2016 forum thread https://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/Thetford-fridges/41393/ Thetford's advice about 'tilt tolerance' used to be as follows "How level must the refrigerator be? If you have a gas absorption refrigerator, normal leveling of the vehicle is sufficient. The refrigerator is made to operate within 3 degrees off level side-to-side and 6 degrees off level front-to-back (looking at the front of the refrigerator).” However, the Thetford manual for my Rapido's Thetford fridge/freezer includes no equivalent statement, just implying that - if the fridge is not level - cooling will be negatively affected. weldted
On some fridges there is a small piece of metal spiral shaped, thisn must be clean and free to move in its tube.can be accessed from the top vent hooked in on a wire.
Derek Uzzell
As far as I’m aware all Dometic/Electrolux or Thetford 3-way fridges should have a spiral baffle in their gas flue. The baffle’s purpose is explained in Section 7.5 on this Dometic-related link. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/885360/Dometic-Rm-3762.html?page=18 The upper attached photo shows an example of the Dometic/Electrolux baffle. The Thetford equivalent (lower attached photo) is evidently simpler in design. As advised on the link, it is vital that the baffle’s position within the flue is correct for the model of fridge - otherwise the appliance won’t cool properly when operating from gas. However, this shouldn’t be relevant in Pete-B’s case as his ‘needs to be almost level’ problem occurs when his Thetford fridge is operating from 230V.
