Deffheads
I would like some feedback on the wireless Garmin BC30 reversing camera via the sat nav, are they reliable on a 8.4 metre motorhome?
Derek Uzzell
USA reviews here (plenty of others on Amazon) https://www.bestbuy.com/site/reviews/bc-30-wireless-back-up-camera-for-select-garmin-gps-black/3913134 Picture quality is more likely to be a problem than reliability. Cruisecontrol
I had an earlier version - I think it was a BC20. I'd agree with Derek- the picture quality was awful compared to versions I've since used. Fortunately I didn't pay full price as at time son worked for Garmin - he did warn me!.
Derek Uzzell
There’s a longish BC30 installation article here https://whichsatnav.com/garmin-bc-30-wireless-backup-camera-installation There seems to be no mention of the camera having LEDs (for night time use) or a heater (to clear rainwater/condensation). witzend
Well I'd have though the Garmin would have been good but obviously Not. Having recently tried 2 different wireless reversing cameras now reading this I think maybe wireless just aren't of much use so perhaps better trying a wired one next
boyobaker
I have used the BC30 on my autocruise agusta 7.8m long. I had a very good picture day or night. It also shows 3 imposed lines on the monitor spaced about 1m apart to help manoeuvre. WiFi was excellent, even with 2 doors closed.
PedairOlwyn
We have one on our 2017 AutoSleeper ...from new. Not as good as a wired system. Currently seeking quotes to install a wired dual-camera with a separate dash mounted monitor (not via the Avtex/Garmin SatNav). Go for a wired system. StephDeLux
I have the BC40 with the Camper 780. Excellent image.
Derek Uzzell
It’s perhaps worth mentioning that the Garmin BC30 camera system differs significantly from Stephane’s BC40 camera, as the BC30 requires a DC power-source (eg. from the vehicle’s reversing lights) whereas the BC40 should be a good deal simpler to install as it is powered by 2 x AA batteries. https://buy.garmin.com/en-GB/GB/p/685415 (As the original enquiry by Kevin (Deffheads) was 3 months ago, it’s likely that, by now, he would have decided which camera system to go for. Some feedback from Kevin might be valuable, particularly if he chose a Garmin wireless camera system.)
Deffheads
Thanks for more info, I have the older Garmin 660 which is not compatible with the BC 40. But if any of you are wanting to sell a BC 30 I would be interested.
