Will86
Are they cleaned or changed when the coil symbol is illuminated ?
Keithl
The coil symbol is signifying a fault within the system and a scan for codes should then identify the exact fault. Do you have access to a code reader or can you visit a local shop/dealer and get your VW scanned? Unfortunately shotgun cleaning or changing of parts has become a thing of the past! Keith. Will86
Many thanks its being sorted Friday but never had this before so was more curious than can I fix it myself. In the past I've worked on petrol engines but never diesel
Billggski
From euroserve in 2011 The glow plug warning message on 2.3 engined X250 vans does not normally indicate a problem with the glow plugs! There is a very common fault with chaffed wires in the loom under the nearside headlamp. This causes an undesirable earth which the computer assumes is a faulty glow plug. It will take an hour or so for a competent auto electrician to find and repair.

artheytrate
I had an Auto Sleeper on a VW T4 chassis the glow coil light came on when it was about 12 months old, I took it to a diesel engineer and it was found that the brake light bulb had blown causing the glow coil warning light to come on.
