Grill sorted, now it's the fridge.

Thanks for your advice re my grill not staying alight. In the end I called a local caravan dealer and he said it's a common fault, just loosen off the igniter/flame failure device and retighten and chances are it works. And it does.

So one down, one to go.

So, now on to my Dometic fridge. The rubber seal around the door is coming loose and is now only held on at the top. Guess it needs a squirt of some glue or other. I COULD try superglue, but wonder if there's a proper one to use? Anybody know please?

TIA

Others may have had different experience experiences, but I've never experienced this fault across five Dometic fridges, or read of it. Just makes me wonder if there is some other fault with the door, or whether the seal itself has split. Is that possible? Your van is only max 4 years old, and I assume hasn't had much use over the past year.

YouTube videos relating to 2017 Elddis Autoquest 196 motorhomes show a smallish ‘under worktop’ fridge that I’m guessing is a Dometic RM 8-Series model. (There should be a label inside Colin’s fridge identifying exactly which model is fitted to his motorhome.)

The door seals of Electrolux/Dometic fridges used to be integrated into the door when it was constructed. The seals never came loose, but they could degrade with age or become damaged and were a nightmare to replace. It was usually suggested in such cases that a complete new door be fitted or the original seals be cut off and ‘generic’ replacement seals be attached with adhesive.

A great find by Derek. Not a glue I’ve come across before. A penny cheaper (inc VAT) and free delivery here https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Super-Glue-High-Impact-Flexible-Strong-Bond-Gap-Filling-Rubber-Toughened-BLACK/233013268330?hash=item3640ac4f6a:g:K7IAAOSwFqNa3bzo but regardless, worth looking at the advert to view the large range of materials it’s claimed it will adhere.
