nyk
Anyone know about overnight parking at Harwich port for the morning ferry?
nelwd
I stayed in a Morisons car park that is next to the port a couple of years ago. Got there about 9.00pm, parked up and went to bed. Store opens about 7.00am I think, so I went in to buy some bits for breakfast and lunch to take with me so I did not feel too guilty. I think the Port will let you stay overnight at the Port, but have never done so. Will
Derek Uzzell
nyk As far as I can make out there’s nothing on the current Stenaline website about motorhomes/caravans being allowed to overnight in the pre-embarkation lanes. https://www.stenaline.co.uk/routes/harwich-hook-of-holland/Port-Info but it’s mentioned on this 2014 video-clip and in this 2017 MHFun posting https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/overnight-parking-at-harwich-port.160361/ Security procedures at UK ferry-ports are unpredictable nowadays and, although it’s quite likely that Stenalines will still allow motorhomes/caravans to overnight-park in the pre-embarkation lanes prior to an early-morning crossinfg, you’d be wise to check with the company if that’s official policy.. https://www.stenaline.co.uk/customer-services GOOGLE mapping of the area near the ferry-port shows several potential overnighting opportunities exploiting ‘commercial’ car-parks (eg. the Morrisons car-park nelwd used). johnfromnorfolk
Stayed at the Stenna line entrance to the port overnight in June last year (2018). Was told to park on the left hand side of the parking area next to the fence. Was joined by several motorhomes and caravans parking for the early morning ferry from Harwich. Wiggy
As John from Norfolk covers there is no problem parking at the ferry terminal - stay over at the left hand rear of the assembly area, we have done this a number of times overnight and prior to the early morning ferry.
