Help needed removing cup holder

Hi

The cup holders have been getting in the way and annoying me since we bought our Moho 2+ years ago, on our previous Moho with the glove box our Labrador would sleep in the passenger footwell when the seat was turned around, with the cup holder sticking out that doesn’t work. Plus both mysel and my wife have knocked our ankles on the drafted thing. Grrrrrrr!

soooooo I purchased a original glove box to fit after looking at comments on the forum and usin* 5he part number.

I have now removed front part of cup holder, 2 screws and some gentle persuasion.

I am left with back of the cup holder, see image.

I have removed 6 screws leaving some movement but..... it seems stuck or there is another clip, screw, attachment I cannot see. There appears to be something riveted ( not sure but not a screw head) in the centre. I can see wire in the area but can’t work out by feel.

Soooo, I wondered if anybody else who had done this could give some guidance.

Peter

I’ve visibilised your photo (the file needs to have a .jpg extension not a .jpeg one) and enhanced it somewhat. If the ‘rivet’ you’ve referred to is the thing I’ve arrowed in green, this is NOT a fixing. Provided that you have removed all the fixing screws, the unit should come out OK.

Replacement of an X290’s central cup-holder unit with a hinged storage-box (and vice versa) has been discussed here in the past.

Be aware that the storage-box unit is heavy and (if I remember correctly) is held in place by 11 screws - so fitting it the first time you do it may take a while.

Replacement of the pollen filter has also been discussed here.

Thank you Derek, that is very useful.

I did find one of the links you include but failed dismally on finding any others. Clearly your search skills are far superior to mine..

I will have another go at removing later and report back.

Peter
