brom
A friend of ours has a 2017 Hobby Vantana k55 - that's a medium wheelbase panel-van conversion. They like it very much - except for its USP: the 90-litre slimline fridge which is housed, unusually, (uniquely?), in the overhead lockers above the kitchen. The problem with the fridge (which is a compressor; my friend thinks it's a Dometic, but can't yet tell me the model number), is the NOISE, which prevents sleep. Not the compressor or fan, which are quiet, but the loud gurgling noise of (presumably?) coolant running round the pipes. It can be switched onto night-time mode, which gives peace and quiet till around 3am, then it sets off running - and switches itself onto day-time (noisier) mode! This has been driving him to distraction, and the dealers have tried to assist - a 'fix' was applied in the Spring, but it made no difference. It seems to be a known fault. The fridge also has a habit of disgorging cold water onto the worktop below, when setting off after a night's camping. Has anyone any experience of these faults, and any advice as to how to solve the problem?
brom
I'm now told it's a Dometic Slimline RMVOC90, which the brochure says makes 42dB of sound. Friend says he thinks it's MUCH louder than that!
Derek Uzzell
Anything ‘unique’ that Hobby imposes on their motorhomes needs to be treated with deep suspicion (He said - speaking from bitter experience.) Best of luck dealing with Hobby when it comes to correcting ‘odd’ problems...
