How to reset radio code

We have a Peugeot motorhome with a Fiat 250 VP1 DAB radio. In an effort to improve the radio reception as another poster suggested I've taken the radio out and connected a separate aerial lead to the TV "loft" aerial on the roof and in the process disconnected the radio. Plugging it all back in I get a message that i need to reset the anti theft code. I've got the code, 8-) so how do I do it please? The book doesn't seem to tell me the process, it assumes it's all up and running and ignores that bit.

Any help would be much appreciated :-(

The VP1 DAB unit is shown here

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Continental-Radio-Head-Unit-Fiat-250-VP1-DAB-Peugeot-Citroen-CODE-supplied-/201879570987

There’s a User Manual here

https://usermanual.wiki/Continental-Automotive/VP1

and advice on entering the anti-theft code is on Page 4

The procedure (shown below) seems to be much the same as for the Uconnect radios fitted to Fiat Ducatos.

ANTITHEFT PROTECTION

The system is equipped with an

anti-theft protection system based on

the exchange of information with the

electronic control unit (Body Computer)

on the vehicle.

This guarantees maximum safety and

prevents the secret code from being

entered after the power supply has

been disconnected.

If the check has a positive outcome, the

system will start to operate, whereas if

the comparison codes are not the

same or if the electronic control unit

(Body Computer) is replaced, the

system will ask the user to enter the

secret code according to the procedure

described in the paragraph below.

ENTERING THE SECRET CODE

When the system is switched on, if the

code is requested, the display will

show "Please enter Anti-Theft Code"

followed by the screen showing a

keypad to enter the secret code.

The secret code is made up of four

digits from 0 to 9.

The secret code is made up of four

digits, from 0 to 9: to insert the code,

turn the "BROWSE ENTER" right knob

and press to confirm.

The secret code is made up of four

digits, from 1 to 9: to insert the first

number of the code press the

corresponding key on the display. Enter

the other code digits in the same way.

After inserting the fourth digit, move the

cursor to "OK" and press the

"BROWSE/ENTER" right knob: the

system will start to operate.

If an incorrect code is entered, the

system displays "Incorrect Code" to

notify the user of the need to enter the

correct code.

After the 3 available attempts to enter

the code, the system displays

"Incorrect Code. Radio locked. Wait for

30 minutes". After the text has

disappeared it is possible to start the

code entering procedure again.

Oh dear, looks like I have a problem.

Switched the radio on, with the instructions printed out in front of me and all I get is"Anti Theft System" Code error, please restart the system" and that's it. Tried pushing and twisting but no button does anything. Loked at the instruction book your referred to and can't see what to do.

Colin, you don't say how old your van is, but on the newer Ducatos where the radio talks to the body computer through the Can bus, it may be as simple as leaving it powered on for up to 15 minutes and you may find both units have conversed with one another and are happy again (non-techie version) :-D

I have the VP2 radio on my van. On a couple of occasions this has happened to me after disconnecting the battery and the radio sorts itself out within 2 or 3 minutes. I do also have a code card, but have never had to use it.

Deneb, you're a star too. (lol) (lol)

Left it switched on for half an hour and sure enough it's all now working fine. Many thanks.

BTW it's a 17 Peugeot/Elddis 196 Magnum but the radio has Fiat stickers on the insdie, though the Peugeot illuminated emblem when you switch it on
