Violet1956
I am trying to look for quotes for insurance on websites that offer temporary insurance. When asked to identify the model of our pre2006 2.8JTD Rapido Motorhome the sites don't come up with the simple identification 2.8JTD. Does anyone know what I should be looking for? e.g references to SWB and MWB series like 11 etc. Cheers Veronica

Derek Uzzell
Veronica 2.8JTD just identifies the 2.8litre motor fitted to your Fiat Ducato-based motorhome, not the Rapido model. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_Ducato In the following earlier forum thread http://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/Removing-fixed-table-Rapido-746F-and-anchoring-the-dog/41415/ you said that you owned a Rapido 746F (example in this advert) http://www.southernmotorhomes.co.uk/used-motorhome-rapido-746-rapido-746f-4087 but there should be no difficulty confirming this as Rapido ‘badges’ their coachbuilt motorhomes with the model reference at the top-rear of each body-side as shown clearly on the attached photo. It may well be the case if you are using websites relating to insurance providers that do not specialise in motorhome business that Rapido 746F might not be accepted as a valid identifier. But Rapido 746F is the correct designator to accurately identiy the motorhome make/model. If you want to use wheelbase and/or Fiat Ducato chassis reference, a 746F was built on a 3.7metre long-wheelbase (LWB) Ducato 15 chassis.
Violet1956
Thanks Derek.. Strange isn't it that the insurance comparison websites allow you to specify the vehicle you wish to insure is a motorhome and they require you to give only the base vehicle details? I looked everywhere in the vehicle handbook and couldn't find anything about the base vehicle type that corresponded with the list of options given in the subsequent drop down box on the comparison website. All good to run with it now. Cheers Veronica
