Lake Garda

Hi Vicky Last year we stayed at Bella Italia, a site in the South East corner of Lake Garda at Peschiera Del Garda. It has several excellent pools, is ideal for families and is right on the lake - paths from the site straight onto lakeside. It is only 10 minutes walk from the centre of Peschiera Del Garda which has lots of nice restaurants and is one of the towns on the lake boating cicuit giving easy access to all of the other tourist towns around Lake Garda. It is a huge site (over 1000 pitches) and the pitches are a reasonable size but it can get very busy as it takes camping cheques. Advise booking even out of season. Have a nice trip Alan

I can endorse Alans comments. Below is a site report just published in Motor Caravan February 2006 PESCHIERA, ITALY Bella Italia, Via Bella Italia 2, 37019, Peschiera del Garda, Italy. Telephone: 045 640 0688 (from UK dial 00 39 first). www.gardacamp.com On the south shore of beautiful Lake Garda, Bella Italia is a 25-acre top quality, four-star site. Gently sloping towards Lake Garda the site has 800 marked and shaded pitches, which are accessed by Tarmac roads. Levelling blocks may be needed on some. There are a small number of holiday bungalows on the site too. Also on-site are six well maintained facility blocks with showers, wash basins and toilets, a laundry, dishwashing area facilities for motorcaravanners with disabilities. Four had WC emptying points but only one had a motorhome waste point. There are five swimming pools, two separated by sand, extensive sports facilities and a full entertainment programme. All adults must produce photo identity to book; credit cards are not accepted but Camping Cheques are. Security was tight on the site which also offers a large supermarket with its own bakery, a greengrocers, newsagents and other shops. A restaurant offers good value meals and take-aways. You Say Best lake-side location Worst limited waste points How to get there From the A4/E70 take the SR249 north to Peschiera and then turn west onto SR11 Peschiera and the site is on the right in two miles. It’s easy to find – we’ve never found driving in Italy a problem. Site open 1 April to 8 October. Nightly fees Motorhome and two adults €22 - €42 including electric hook-up. Attractions Historical lakeside towns including Peschiera, Lazise, Bardalino, Garda, Malcesine, Torbole, Riva, Limone and Sirmione; water sports, fishing and Gardaland amusement park. NB They dont take pets. The web site has all the information about the site.
