Lots of advice needed!

Sorry in advance if this is a long story...

So a year ago my wife and I bought a 98 Autostratus, mainly so that we could go places with the two dogs (Covid pups - not very socialised...)

A year on and the two dogs are almost 2 years old, and still not where they should be with regard to social contact. As a result, my wife is not confident that our original plan will work, so the decision has been taken to sell the van.

It was a bit of an impulse buy at the time which blinded us to a few of the issues with it, and also blinded me to the fact that I knew absolutely nothing about them, despite my early confidence at being able to "work it out".. :D

The problem now is that when I look at selling it, I want to fix some of these issues before I put it on the market.

I still can't get any of the igniters to work - not the cooker, nor the heater. Gas works, and the fridge works (I know because I left it on by mistake and there was ice in the freezer the next day... ) but the igniters don't click.

The leisure battery isn't great - there's two wee lights on the fuse panel that show a solid battery (green light) and underneath a red light beside a representation of a half-filled battery. When I put the switch to aux battery, the red light comes on. It's been hooked to the mains for a week but still the same - I think I killed it.

Seat covers - the arms on the front seats are a little frayed - Is covering them an option? Is that a thing?

The biggest window is broken in one corner... looking at replacement is around £1000. Worth it or just take the hit on the price?

Apart from that, it looks pretty decent... :D

I reckon that buying a van is a bit like buying a house in some respects. People don't necessarily buy a house because they like the layout or the decor, they buy it because of what it will (or they think it will) do for them, and how they can re-plan/redecorate/ use it to suit their needs and wants.

For this reason I have not and would never redecorate a house to sell it - I don't think you ever recoup the expenditure ..... so why re-do the van?

Surely, if you bought 2 years ago, in the current market the value will have increased, so you should not be out of pocket?

As long as you are honest about the defects when you sell - I doubt you'll lose much ....unless of couse you were "had" when you bought it!
