Motorhome central locking

Hi All

My central locking has stopped working on my 2001 fiat ducato.

It started just not locking the drivers door from the remote.

Then stopped both from the remote.

But it's not even working manually by pushing the drivers button down?

Having to push passengers button down and lock drivers with a key.

Can anyone suggest why this is and how to repair please.

Possibly due to faulty door hinge wiring. The following is an extract from a post by "Womo793" in a current thread on the Fiat Forum.

"I have repaired hinge wiring before by splicing in replacement sections where it's damaged. You should be careful to match the wire gauge and insulate the splices with heat shrink sleeving so they don't short. It's best not to locate the splices where the wire bends but in a few inches either side where there is no bending.

You can buy wire with silicone insulation, which is made up of a high number of very fine strand of copper. The wire is very flexible and has a good temperature range so it's less likely to break."
