Oil Cap

I would have been helpful if you said which vehicle you have and which motor, just in case another forum reader has a similar vehicle and has encountered the same problem. Oil filler-caps come in various varieties, but they are normally straightforward to remove. Try turning the cap clockwise (ie. in the tightening direction) then turning it anti-clockwise to undo it (this may work if the cap carries a seal that has stuck due to the cap not been removed for a long time). If that fails, try pressing down hard on the cap while turning it anti-clockwise. You could also try getting a piece of towelling, soaking it in boiling water and wrapping the towelling around the cap for a few minutes before attempting to turn the cap. (Make sure you use gloves to avoid any risk of scalding.) Have got one of those kitchen gadgets that aid removal of jam-jar tops? If so, try that. As you seem to be a mite doubtful about where you should be putting oil in, it might be a good idea to seek advice from someone who has more knowledge of motor vehicles. This could avoid you trying to remove something not intended to be removed.

OK, Sally, just in case there is something unusual about the oil-cap on this vehicle, I suggest you seek advice from either (or both) of the following firms that specialise in Talbot Expresses: Mike's Talbot Parts (Tel: 01460 67000) Delfin Designs www.delfindesigns.co.uk (Tel: 01258 857474)
