Welcome to the Out&AboutLive forums, Stella.

There’s a reasonable amount of online information/advice/reviews relating to the Pilote Galaxy 270 model and it would be worth you browsing through the following results of a GOOGLE-search.

I happen to have a French-language Pilote brochure that includes specification details of the G270 model and I note that it was built using an AL-KO chassis with independent rear suspension. There is a need for the rear-axle bearings of this type of chassis to be regularly greased, so it would be worth you trying to confirm that this has been done if you can and, in future, make sure that greasing is carried out (say) annually. The G270 was marketed in Continental Europe using Fiat Ducato mechanicals, but usually sold in the UK with a Peugeot Boxer motor and related Peugeot components.

As you are new to motorhomes, I suggest you invest in a copy of “The Motorcaravan Manual” by the late-John Wickersham. The 2nd edition should be fine for your 2003 vehicle and can be obtained 2ndhand for very little money online (example advert here). Or your local library may be able to get hold of a copy for you to borrow.

(In 2003 I unwisely volunteered to provide Pilote with an improved English-language translation of their motorhome User Manual - but that’s another story!)
