Problem with Alde heating

Sydney1

Recommended Posts

We've recently taken ownership of a new motorhome which has the Alde 3020 heating system rather then the Truma we are used to. We are having trouble with the heating when running on gas and before I go back to the dealer, I thought I'd just check I'm not missing something obvious.

Habitation electrics are on

All gas taps are on

Alde control panel is on and say 25 degrees selected

The gas only icon selected and turns green

The pump icon illuminates

The boiler fires up but we cannot get the temperature in the van up as the boiler does not seem to stay on long enough

The van is stored away from home so I haven't had the chance to check hook up performance or hot water but it does seem like an issue with the thermostat?

Where would I find this and any simple checks I can do?

Although the gas taps are turned on, I would also check that the gas is actually flowing as well.

Some pigtails from the gas bottle have a green button that needs to be pressed (sorry if teaching you to suck eggs), and then I would try boiling water in a gas kettle to ensure gas is flowing properly.

On the Alde control panel home screen is there a button marked 'A' in the bottom right corner? If yes, there may be a preset for daytime temperature that is running that overrides the temperature you set.

Have you tried running it on an EHU to see if the problem also exists? You could also fill the boiler with water and see if the system produces hot water.

Failing all these you might want to check that a blown fuse is not stopping the pump from running.

However, given that you have said that it fires up then stops, my initial thoughts would be a lack of gas, or a temperature preset override.

I'm not a specialist, but these are some of the things I would do with mine to try and narrow down the problem.

Regards,

It might just be that you have hot water boost selected (like in your library picture) which overrides the central heating to prioritise how water heating for 30 minutes.

If so then keep pressing exactly where that finger is until the slope triangle is hollow and the green + symbol becomes blue.

The service menu is quite useful and should give you the glycol and water temperatures and also the gas fan speed.

My 3020 has a slightly different menu screen but I would guess you can get the same display using the "spanner" button on yours.

The other thing to check is the small red potentiometer on the back of the pump. It should be set to at least 3 for a motorhome. This controls the pump speed.See photos

The temperatures shown in the photos was taken when first switched on.Glycol temperature is around 70degC (from memory) and about 60degC for the hot water

We've recently taken ownership of a new motorhome which has the Alde 3020 heating system...

Is this motorhome the 2017 Burstner IT734 vehicle shown in the “Interests” field of your forum Profile?

If so, you might want to copy that identification data into your Profile’s “Location” field, resulting in the motorhome identifier appearing automatically on the left of your postings (as my current Rapido motorhome is identified on my own postings).

Well done for providing the identifying information, but it’s best put in the Profile’s “Location” field.
