Project 2000 electric step sticking.

I've got a Project 2000 single electric step that I'm having a bit of a problem with. The step comes out fine but when I press the button to retract the step it seems to get stuck about a quarter of the way in. If I give it a 'helping hand/foot' it will retract fully, as normal. I'm thinking its probably mechanical as opposed to electrical? Any advice?

Thanks.

Lubrication may help - otherwise the step will need to be disassembled to find out where the fault lies.

Although the problem is more likely to be mechanical than electrical, as your motorhome is a 2018 Challenger “Vany” the fault should really be addressed under warranty. Not sure how you’d do this in the UK though...

Thanks for the replies, especially Derek for the detailed links. The problem is now sorted, Seems that in the past some (very) slight damage had been inflicted on the front panel covering the space where the step runs out from. Barely visible unless you remove the panel but just enough to tilt one of the plastic bushes the step runs on. This was fine when the step came out but not for the return. The slight tilt caused the step to judder and jam. With some light engineering all is now working.

The warranty side can be an issue with imports that have no dealerships in UK, however, given that a big percentage of the vehicle will be covered by individual warranties (Thetford, Webasto etc.) I'm not unduly concerned. It does have a 3 yer Challenger warranty so if anything serious did crop up a trip across the water would be in order!
