Deffheads
2 years ago I put a 2" strip of reflective tape on our awning cover. Now it has degraded and needs removing, the brittle outer plastic justs cracks off leaving the backing stuck fast to the awning cover. I have tried white spirt/ WD40 and brake cleaner also a heat gun, but so far it is proving almost impossible to remove. Any ideas? Does 3m adhesive remover really work? Gman
I've used a caramel wheel in the past to remove stickers from our race cars with no bad effects. Just be careful how much pressure you apply. Get them on Ebay quite cheap. Hope this helps. Steve.
747
I believe there are specialist products but I have always used the Ronson lighter fluid I used for my Zippo lighter.
John52
I find petrol removes the adhesive left behind when you peel tape off.

Geeco
On the Utube site salvage rebuilds UK they have purchased a couple of work vans with reflective self adhesive tape. They use a heat gun and a plastic Stanley blade ( not seen one before). He cleans the residue glue off with thinners. On my previous MH an Autotrail the decals on the bonnet went hard & cracked from sun & engine heat. I used the edge of a credit card and the codrivers hair dryer. It was a slow process but it did work. It seems there is no substitute for elbow grease! Cheers,

Globebuster1
Try C-Tec Multisolve - available from Toolstation and the like - really good stuff. Alternatively, see if you can got hold of some MEK [or if you know a printer, some Blanket Rejuvenator] Toffee wheels are good on some substrates.
