hallii
I have just got round to checking my mobile charges for earlier this year. I have been charged an extra £16 for calling an 0844 number to make a small change to my booking. Do not use Eurotunnel 0844 numbers, they are a rip off. Robinhood
Eurotunnel charge 7p per minute for calls to their 0844 number. (Their "service charge"). Most calls to 0844 numbers will also attract an access charge from your phone provider, which varies from firm to firm. My mobile provider charges 25p per minute (so the Eurotunnel call would cost 32p per minute). My landline provider's access charge is somewhat less than half that. Even from my mobile, I'd need a call of around 50 minutes to attract a £16 charge. Whilst it is indisputable that Eurotunnel's choice of a premium rate number drives the cost, you might wish to reflect that if the call had been made from my mobile, Eurotunnel would have received £3.50 of that £16, and my phone provider £12.50. Rather puts the focus on where any rip-off is happening.
