Riva Bella campsite - Ouistreham

Just a ‘heads up’ for anyone considering staying on the Riva Bella campsite at Ouistreham.

At the beginning of April 2019, on the campsite’s northern edge next to the roundabout, work began on the construction of a "B&B” 3-storey 64-bedroom hotel.

My understanding is that the project should be completed by Spring 2020 but, for now, there’s a good deal of noise being generated.

Just returned on 12 July. When booking in they will allocate your pitch number which was towards the end of the site closest to the roundabout and the building works. These pitches are series 300 etc.

We didn't want to be near the noise so asked if could pick our own pitch - they were perfectly happy with this. Also, if possible, avoid using pitches close to the cabins - occupants can be noisy at night.

If you are a member of the CMC, book via them, it's cheaper than Riva Bella's own price per night. Out of season use ACSI of course.

Interestingly - far less pitch occupants this year. Could be the building works but I suspect there is also a concern for potential immigrants in the vicinity.

I stayed there at the beginning of June. The building site next door was in its infancy. The guys hanging around the roundabout were a menace for the Artics heading for the ferry forcing them to take the roundabout at speed to prevent folk hanging off the back.
