Road Tax an amusing result

Having Road Taxed a VW transporter with its high annual rate for many years ... I recently changed to a simpler way of travelling from a - b.

 

I received an automatic return from the DVLA of the excess. Not a lot thinks I.

 

In fact the return was enough to road tax the new vehicle for over 6 years.

Their mistakes do sometimes work in our favour. When my car reached forty years old, and therefore fell into the historic vehicle class, I applied for a refund of the remaining duty. Instead of just the two months still to run after the change of class, they refunded the whole lot.

I thought penny-farthing bicycles didn’t need road tax... ;-)

It was the sale of those that enabled me to buy the Rapido originally. I'm a buyer - user - seller in rapid succession whenever the situation arises. Its been a wonderful and changeable period, the object now is to freewheel as long as possible.
