I assume the Scottish QR code will be compatible with the French TousAntiCovid app (as the English/Welsh QR code is) but that should be easy enough to confirm by anyone obtaining the Scottish code.

I downloaded our Scottish NHS vaccination QR codes yesterday and read them successfully into the QR code wallet of the 'tousanticovid' app.

The 'tousanticovid verif' app (that used by businesses, venues etc. to validate your QR code) reports them as 'non valide' though, so I don't think we are much further forward as yet.

Likewise, I downloaded the QR Code on Thursday night and transferred it to my Tousanticovid App. Too late for us this time round as we had already cancelled and booked for Cornwall (currently in Lake District).

Have you had personal experience of the reader not accepting the code?

With the 'tousanticovid verif' app installed on an Android device you are in the same position (checking of the QR code's validity -wise) as a French official. I installed it and it reported 'non valide' so I think the answer to your question is yes.

But if it's actual reports of the Scottish QR code being declared 'non valide' in France that you're enquiring about then these are now appearing on other forums and groups; at both French passport control and at venues in France. Thankfully without consequence in all cases I've read about thus far i.e. people were allowed in anyway with no further documentation being requested.

I notice that the possibility of the Scottish QR code not been compatible with the French QR code reading technology was mentioned in a “Connexion” article on 3 September 2021.

https://www.connexionfrance.com/French-news/Scottish-Covid-jab-QR-codes-now-compatible-with-France-s-TousAntiCovid

...While the Scottish vaccination certificate is certainly compatible with the TousAntiCovid application, The Connexion has not yet been able to confirm if it is compatible yet with the QR code reading technology being used in France.

It is likely that if it is not yet compatible, it will be within a few days.”

This Twiitter entry may be of interest

https://twitter.com/hashtag/tousanticovid?lang=en

It includes the following tweet (dated 4 September)

Hi @TousAntiCovid, please can you confirm when the verif app will be updated. We successfully loaded our Scottish NHS QR codes onto the app but after venues updated to the current verif app, they are still coming back as invalid at venues.

The reply (also September 4) from TousAntiCovd was

Hi,The TousAntiCovid Verif application is distinct from the #TousAntiCovid application. At present, only English, Welsh and Northern Irish certificates are accepted.

This “The Courier” September 4 article stated that Scottish QR codes were not recognised by France’s TACV Verif app, Italy’s VerificaC19 app, or Germany’s CovPassCheck app.

https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/news/uk-world/2508227/scots-face-travel-uncertainty-as-its-revealed-new-covid-vaccine-qr-codes-dont-work-across-europe/

going on to say

“I’m pretty sure it’s only a matter of time before these Scottish codes work in France and Italy. But in other countries like Germany I’d doubt they ever will, unless UK joins the EU scheme” says Worth.

“Basically – for the sake of travel – Scotland’s system is now about as good as those from NHS England and Wales were a month ago.”

Prior to the Scottish NHS QR code becoming available we applied for French 'COVID PASS' QR codes here:

https://www.demarches-simplifiees.fr/commencer/passe-sanitaire-etrangers

Today our applications were rejected on the grounds that we have European nationality - who knew!

"Your application (no. 5363xxx) was rejected on 14/09/2021 (DD/MM/YYYY).

Your application was rejected on the following grounds: “Dear Sir or Madam, You have European nationality."
