Deffheads
Does a Safefill gas bottle have the same left handed thread connector as a Calor propane bottle?
spospe
From the Safefill website:at: http://www.safefill.co.uk/pdf/cylinder-instruction-leaflets.pdf "Connecting your appliance Make sure the Safefill lock-off valve (3) is closed when fitting your regulator/ pigtail. We recommend you use the latest Hand wheel tightening type propane pigtail / propane regulator when connecting to the Safefill cylinder. (Note the thread is left handed so you tighten in an anticlockwise direction)"

Derek Uzzell
A ‘financial' caveat relating to Safefill bottles when considering travelling outside the UK. Because a Safefill bottle’s inlet/outlet is female-threaded to accept a left-hand-threaded POL connector, when travelling abroad the right-hand-threaded adapters used when refilling ‘normal’ user-refillable LPG canisters and fixed LPG tanks (and refilling LPG-fuelled vehicles) won’t be suitable for Safefill bottles. Instead, left-hand-threaded adapters will be needed. Specialised adapters are available from Safefill, but they are not cheap... http://www.safefill.co.uk/our-cylinders.html
witzend
Deffheads - 2020-05-12 3:27 PM Does a Safefill gas bottle have the same left handed thread connector as a Calor propane bottle? Have heard that Safefill have been out of stock for some time but this firm offer a alternative and the continental filling adaptors are cheaper https://www.lpgshop.co.uk/10kg-24-5l-refillable-composite-gas-bottle-uk/
Derek Uzzell
The LPG Shop website advertises varioius user-refillable gas bottles: https://www.lpgshop.co.uk/motorhome-home-gas/?mode=4 Composite-construction bottles include “SAFEFILL” products and the 10kg bottle just mentioned (shown as currently out of stock). I’ve mentioned previously the “GAS BANK” range of refillable composite bottles and I see that the 10kg version with a central ‘multivalve’ unit is offered. https://www.lpgshop.co.uk/gasbank-multi-light-composite-motorhome-propane-bottle/ This design allows refilling to be carried out remotely (ie. from a filling-point in a motorhome’s bodywork) and avoids having to disconnect the bottle from the leisure-vehicle’s gas system to refill, as is required with other composite bottles. The asking price of £229 (plus delivery charges) is off-putting, though, when a Gaslow R67 11kg bottle (with a similar central multivalve) can currently be obtained for £167 including delivery charges.
