Hymer fan
Hi everyone Got a question I have got 2x solar panels 1x100w /1x120w Is it feasible to have 1 panel wired to the leasure battery &1 panel wired to the engine battery With 2 separate controllers Will try to explain I bought a panel kit for a van I was going to purchase But the deal fell through So left with a spare solar kit Bought another van the hymer but already had solar panel fitted So instead of buying another controller Can I just wire them separately If you need any more info just let me know Thanks
colin
That might depend on how your present panel is 'wired up'. On our van the fixed panel is connected to the leisure battery, when the van is parked up (under cover) I sometimes connect a second (40w) panel to the vehicle battery. In your case however, fitting both panels to the van and then having them connected separately is less than ideal, personally I'd have them both connected to a charge controller that feeds both batteries, the main power going to leisure battery, and a 'top up' going to vehicle.
