fesspark
We are enjoying the weather here in spain and due to go home late March, have lost touch lately but I hear say that the diesel in France is afar higher price than home, anyone know what it is in the super market stations? Regards, happy new year to all on the forum fesspark

ColinM50
Well is the price really that important? You've got to do the miles irrespective of price so, worst case let's say you drive from Barcelona via Perpignan to Calais, that's c700 miles and at 30mpg, 23 galls or round figures 110 litres. If the fuel's "gone up" by even €0.20 (and I don't think it has) a litre then it's going to cost you an "extra" €22. Is that critical? To my mind it's being sure you can actually get the fuel that's key not the price per litre. Oh, and if you drive that route the French motorway road tolls will be c€77, so more relevant than the fuel cost. Of course you can save money by not using the motorways. https://www.autoroutes.fr/en/routes.htm?itiFrom=A%C3%A9roport+de+Perpignan-Rivesaltes%2C+France&itiTo=62100+Calais%2C+France If it's of any interest, I started a job in France January 2004 and was stunned that diesel was as cheap as €1.00 a litre. Not gone up much in 15 years has it.

TeamRienza
Fuelflash.eu is a worthwhile site to become familiar with. You select location, range and type of fuel (including lpg) and prices seem to be updated regularly. Davy

laimeduck
You can get the price of fuel anywhere in France on this government website. All Petrol stations in France are obliged by law to notify the government if their price changes and that is what this site records. By and large I have found the information to be more or less reliable over the last 10 years or so. https://www.prix-carburants.gouv.fr/
HarveyHeaven
The fuel is most expensive on the motorways. If you pop off the motorway to the supermarkets prices are quite good.
747
I was just reading on an Oil exploration website that the price of crude is coming down. You can thank Mr Donald Trump for that ..... well, he had to be good for something. :D
derek500
Diesel's gone up 3c (138.9) in the last week in the two garages I check in Cherbourg. Cheaper to fill in Asda here before we depart.next week (and a 3% Santander cashback). Take care of the pennies.......
Archiesgrandad
We normally fill up at our local supermarket, which is as cheap as it gets around here. When we travel long distance we normally go to POI's and look for the cheapest supermarket nearest our route. AGD
Derek Uzzell
Fuel prices in France and Spain were discussed here a month ago https://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/French-fuel-latest-info-/50853/ Repeating the Fuel-Flash website https://www.fuelflash.eu/en/ comparisons I made in December, Spanish diesel prices per litre now vary from €1.13 to €1.23 and French diesel prices per litre from €1.35 to €1.50 As has been said above, fuel from motorway service-stations is likely to be most expensive, with fuel from supermarkets the least expensive - but that will be true in the UK, not just in Spain or France. derek500
In Spain the small unmanned petrol stations are almost invariably the cheapest.
