Ninian
Hi, Does anyone know if by replacing the battery does it have any effect on the vans electronics. I just wanted to check before I let a dealer disconnect it. I didn't want to end up with a lot of fault codes. Thanks.
thebishbus
You may have to re-enter the radio code. Brian B.
Derek Uzzell
I vaguely recall reading (not on this forum) someone saying that disconnecting the starter battery had produced fault codes, but there’s no good reason to expect that to happen. When the starter battery of a 2014 Ducato (like Ninian’s) is replaced, transitory information for the dashboard display (eg. date and time) will need to be reset - but that’s simple enough to do. If it’s believed that a radio has a security code and this code is not known, there are ways to maintain 12V power to the radio while battery-replacement takes place. Ninian
Hi, Thanks for the replies, regarding the radio code my van has a special head unit that contains the radio, DVD player, sat nav etc. so do you think it would still have a code. Thanks.
Derek Uzzell
Probably not - but if it has, it should be mentioned in the unit’s owner instructions.
