Take care in the Villaricos / Mojacar area! New aire in Vera

Recommended Posts

We have just arrived back in our "home" area and are advised that there have been a spate of break-ins, and thefts to motorhomes in the Villaricos and Mojacar area. These were done mostly while people were away in the villages, so just a word of caution should you be in this area!

Incidentally, there is a new "aire" in Vera, which opened in February, where we stayed last Friday. Nice and secure, flat, around 60 places, and suitable for big vans. €9 a night, €3 for 12 amp electric, showers etc. Very convenient for restaurants and shopping in Vera, and cheap diesel just up the road! Safer than the coast. :-)

Thanks for the information. We had a campervan stolen from our urbanisation recently which is about an hour north of Mojacar.

We are heading down that way in a couple of weeks time, could you please let me know the name of the new Aire or the name of the road on which it’s situated.

Thank you.

The site is called Carpe Diem, The co ordinates are best, N 37*14'23" W1*51'47".

As you approach Vera from the west, take the turn for Vera, (the shell garage) right at the first roundabout Carretera de Ronda, at the next troundabout, right, down the hill with Vera diesel on the right and at the bottom of the hill before the small roundabout, it is on the left.

Good luck!

Ainsley

All useful info, thanks! We spend a bit of time around that area during the winter and didn't know about the new aire.

We were at Cuevas Mar campsite when somebody turned up with a window broken on their van. It was when the camper was parked on a nearby urbanisation - they'd had some stuff stolen. So yes, unfortunately, it happens.
