curdle Posted December 26, 2020 Share Posted December 26, 2020 Having watched the changing rules closely, we finally crossed to France on Dec 17th after all travel rules dropped there. Usual COVID idiots on the ferry from whom not wearing a mask is a sign of some kind of principle. Kept off the toll roads and travelled though pristine landscapes with virtually non-existant traffic. Hit a water pump problem (habitation) near Evereux and pulled into a dealer, he had the part but not labour, sent me back to Rouen. Fixed in a jiffy, kind people, lashings of coffee. On the road in no time. 75 km of Gorges du Tarn, saw 3 vehicles. Bio cellar open of course! Mad panic as we progressed through Roquefort towards Carcassone with news about new COVID mutant and 10,000truckers to be trapped. Mad dash for Spanish border via Toll road, before closure. Clear French side with 2 mins to spare re: curfew. Spain: heaven on earth. Zero traffic, overnight Aires for motorhome abundant, almost empty but for few friendly Spaniards. Seriously this has been the best of all times to drive a stress free journey through inland Catalonia, Valenciana, and Aragon thus far. A unique experience with kindness in every social interaction.
