Guest Roy Hamilton
Hi There. Anybody know if the swing bridge between the mainland and Achill Island in the west of Ireland has a weight limit? and.. a similar question for the ferry from Portaferry to Strangford in Northern Ireland. Thanks
Guest Stuart
I went to Achill years ago and don't remember any restriction. Trucks must use it as it is the only road access to the island. If you phone the campsite at Keel on +353 94 32054 they should be able to tell you about Achill Is. bridge. Sorry I can't help with the one at Strangford. Guest Mel B
Hi Roy Can't help with the bridge but we went on the Strangford Ferry last year without a problem in our Rapido motorhome. I'ave had a look at their website and they appar to take very large vehicles indeed so it might be worth just sending them a quick email to see but I doubt if there are any restrictions. Have a look at the following websites: www.roadsni.gov.uk/Strangford_Ferry/schedule.htm www.portaferry.freeserve.co.uk/Ferry.html Mel
