steve hill
In have a 2013 Rollerteam with a Truma BS10 gas water heater. I can see a drain tap but can anyone say if this basic boiler has the automatic dump facility when frosty. I cannot see it in the paperwork? Thanks
paulmold
The dump valve itself isn't part of the boiler. Whether manual or auto valve is up to the motorhome manufacturers. If you don't know what they look like, Google Truma dump valve click on images and you'll see the difference and know what to look for.
weldted
The manual drain valve usually has a yellow lever and is small, the auto dump valve is black with a blue twist handle on the top and a small button low down to on side about 90/100 mm high about 50/60 wide. If the temp gets below about 4* and the heating is not on the auto valve should open and dump the water from the boiler only. This does not protect the rest of the water system. I had a 2012 Elddis with the Alde system that was not fitted with the auto dump valve. But my 2019 Butstner has.
steve hill
Thanks I can only see a simple yellow handle on the cold pipes, no black art stuff. Funny I never had any drain/frost worries with my old Carver boiler and only ever drained it for winter storage.
Derek Uzzell
Photos are attached of the two Truma drain-valves mentioned by weldted. The manually-operated valve (upper image) protects against excessive pressure in the water system, but not against frost. The FrostControl valve (lower image) also guards against excessive pressure in the water system, but provides frost protection too.
