Dave Newell
Certainly not a common experience as far as I know. Can you give more details of what actually happened please. D.
triumph
Hi Dave just sitting watching tv when all we can say it was like a shotgun going off. Been out this morning to find that the plastic shroud on the boiler exhaust has been blown off.must of been powerful because we cannot find the bits.thanks
Dave Newell
That is very unusual. My advice would be DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES try to use the boiler until it has been checked over by a competent and Truma trained person. D.

terryW
You don't say where you are but if your are in the Market Drayton area then Sylmar gave me great service with a Truma boiler, even negotiated an out of warranty complete replacement for me. Also he is mobile: http://www.sylmarservices.co.uk/services.htm Hope you get sorted quickly. Terry
triumph
Hi on our way to Poole tomorrow but rang truma and it's an occasional problem they call it a blow back we are using the electric but he said try the gas it could be ok.Luckly enough it's still under warranty and to get the exhaust checked and to replace the cowel on the end. Thanks everyone it was quite scary. Derek Uzzell
Idle curiosity really, but is the Truma appliance you've had a problem with an "Ultrastore" B10 water-boiler or a "Combi" combination air/water heater? Your mention of "the plastic shroud on the boiler exhaust" suggests it's the former, but there's an operating note in the Combi documentation that reads "Following a blow-back (misfire) always have the exhaust gas system checked by an expert!" flicka
IMO Strange advise from Trauma, I would have thought that being an EXHAUST blow-back, that the problem would relate to Gas operation of the Combi ????????????????????????
Derek Uzzell
As I understand it, the part that was damaged when triumph's Truma Combi 'misfired' was the gas-burner's intake/exhaust cowl's outer component. This is shown on the following schematic as Ref 2 (available in various colours) http://www.miriad-products.com/section.php?xSec=278&xPage=1 As triumph says, it must have been a powerful explosion to shatter the outer cover but, as long as the remaining components of the cowl aren't damaged and the concentric intake/exhaust trunkings are unharmed and still securely attached to the heater and outer cowl, if the heater proves to run on gas OK (which apparently it does) I guess gas-operation should be reasonably safe until a replacement part can be fitted. Certainly running the heater on 230V should be alright. I believe that triumph's motorhome is a Swift Mondial RL bought in April 2011, so (hopefully) the 'misfire' is a one-off that won't happen again. crinklystarfish
The routing of the inlet / outlet pipework in terms of its length and angles of rise and fall is critical. Whilst on with a Truma specialist, just have them cast a glance over what the converter did. Many converters just whack them in any old how. I don't know for sure, but would hazard a guess that incorrect routing of the inlet / exhaust could possibly contribute to such a problem.
