Guest Alan Maines
I am attending a Rally this July in Switzerland and wish to tow my Morris 1000 convertible on an A Frame. I wish to know if it is permissible and what the problems are. Has anyone done this before and what were their experiences. If there are problems I will probably hire a trailer but would prefer to use an A Frame. Many Thanks.
Guest Bill Ord
I doubt if A frames are legal in Switserland. It's a grey area in the U.K. as it's never been tested in court. I read a letter from a reader in the French magazine Camping Car earlier this year asking if he could tow on an A frame as he had seen a U.K. registered vehicle towing in this way. The answer was no it was not allowed it was only for recovery vehicles. U.K. vehicles can get away with it as it is allowed in the U.K. and under EU rules if it's legal in your own country when you leave you are o.k. As Switserland isn't in the EU you could have a problem. Bill Ord
